SAND – Safe Ageing No Discrimination, began life formally in May 2013.
Now, three years on, they have some stories to share about what SAND has achieved, how time has been spent and what has happened as a result.
They also need to reach out and involve more people in taking forward the messages from SAND to ensure a better future for older and old lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people (LGBT) accessing health and social care in Shropshire.
Come and join SAND for an afternoon of ideas exploring how to build your own castles, without relying on the Council or the Health service!
In these days of cuts to funding and services, we need to take our own initiative.
Help SAND discover how we can all contribute to a great future.
SAND needs you, your ideas, your friends, contacts, networks – and a bit of energy!
The afternoon starts with a (25 minute) screening of the film Gen Silent (a film which tells a story about the silent generation of older and old LGBT people who consistently go back into the closet as they access health and social care services in later life – and which was the inspiration for SAND).
